I've been planning to work on this dude for some time, eventually he will appear in a map I have planned, I did not have an image editing program installed. And since the other vorts came out it kind of inspired me.

I installed pspv7 then realised I used to use a new version, couldnt find the cd, so I installed Paint.NET (Though I've since found the pspv10cd). So here's playing with Paint.NET

So the priest\shaman I want to have some form of tatto, the screenshots below are what I originally planned, though I'm going to post some variants to see what peeps think, for now here is the intial concept so you can get an idea of what I'm going for (also inspired by an AI system named Violet ;)

Bare in mind this is my second go at editing skins (last was the dod zombies).

if possible make it have a vest made out of headcrab skins and antlion parts.

The idea is good, but the execution is a little basic. I'd look into finding some more tribal patterns, or more natural looking ones. Since the tattoos seem to glow. You might want to make them look as if they're naturally occurring, and if so, you'll want to add some skin texture to the larger areas. I'd probably accentuate the hands and forearms the most, making the density of the tattoos higher there. I'd also find a red tint, to match the vortigaunt color scheme better.

It's a good idea, and with work will turn out really good. You just need to go that extra mile to make it look great.

Reminds me (lighty) the Xen Overlord from Sven Coop.

Maybe is good idea extend the tattoos in his body.

just thinking if you are going to make a new model to make the vest why not just have a group make a new NPC vortshaman.

also how about give it a walking stick shamans are usually older so not in that good of shape so they would need a walking stick to help them get around also make it only use one handed attacks to to the other hand using the walking stick.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I know its a little rough at the moment.

The tattoo's were basically improvised, so there was no real form. Though I thought some alien map of a star system or something would be nice. I had a look on the interenet at some aztec and mayan symbols aswell as tattoos ingeneral, as this is the rough theme of the map. Though didn't really take a shine to much of it.

The tattoo's have to be quite simple in design, though something more coherent is needed. Also I would need to apply the skins in XSI or max or something UV wraping them if they were too detailed and all over the body. Which I'm not at the moment my pc is just too old to install something like XSI.

The reason I made them glow was just because I wanted the tattoo's to be alien, cyberish and unless I find a modeler to help me, there isn't much I personally can do to 'overstate' the difference between a normal vort and a priest vort.

The arms I agree should be the most detailed and I haven't actually started on them yet (I struggle to work out where they are on the original vtf).

As for modeling, I'd love the following ideas,

A $jiggle bone necklace made of smaller scaled alien gibs. The walking stick I thought about (and really want) but it would need so much work with animations.

Maybe babyhead crabs could be used as elbow or knee pads, and the vest I suppose could be made or fastcrabs or something. And maybe a couple of antlion legs hanging from a belt or something.

Also maybe an antlion head as a hat or something. (I'm go look at gibs and stuff see what I can find).

Stay tuned, maybe If I get a decent skin together, I'll go see if I can get a modeler to help me.

Added 3 hammer concept images, just me playing with gibs :)

So maybe I should go on FP see if I can find some one to help, I'd love to see all that attached with a few jigglebones for the hanging stuff.

I kinda like the old one better, the new one looks way to cluttered. This has potential to be great, so I would try a few different versions.

Apart of me feels the same, though something halfway like a rescaled alien gib necklace just to set the vort apart from the original. I guess I went a bit gib crazy!

That's a pretty nice idea,it would fit in well with the rest of him.
