This Steam Account is being used in another location

Post by Lucky9Two »

I find this error usually when I check the server console log after I've been asleep. It goes like this:

Client "diefuku" connected (STEAM...) (220.7.34.171)
Dropped "diefuku" (This Steam...) (220.7.34.171)

Followed directly by another seperate account:

Client "kawasaki" connected (STEAM_ID_PENDING) (220.7.34.171)
Dropped "kawasaki" (This Steam...) (220.7.34.171)

So I traced the IP with this site:
http://ip-lookup.net/index.php
It said Japan as the orgin.

I asked my dad who runs our network, and he said "It's someone trying to log-in using other peoples accounts, until he finds one that's not being used"

So, I ask any of you, is that correct? If not, tell me so I can Un-Ban the IP.

I used to have that error but it was complete bullshit. Now the same shit happens but I get dropped out of the server for a different reason. :p It's when you still see my name in the server but I crashed long ago. And when it comes to me it only happens once and then I can join. So all I can suggest is it'll pass...

Shouldn't the error be Timed out when you crash?

was thinking that too

i normally see this message when something is bugged up in steam (deleting clientregistry.blob restarting steam and works again) or when someone logs into my steam account which actually never happened before

or on some rare cases together with a timeout, but that has sometimes to do with vac so meh

Oh, okay. I just thought I was really wierd 2 different accounts used the same IP.

And yes, when you crash out, it says "so&so Timed Out"
However, if you reconnect before you do, it says "so&so Connection Closing"
Common GMod Problem. That and "Reliable Snaphsot Overflow"

I get this error all the time when I login on my laptop then back into my desktop I think its a security thing
it can also happen if you login on a different computer while your loading into the game/playing the game
from my experience those are the 2 main reasons for that message
