I play'd sven coop a lot, and no matter how shitty the brushwork and details, I always had fun on a good idea.

When you're learning to map just keep your brushwork clean, doesn't matter too much if its blocky at first. Get the basics right and as long as the idea works, then your map will probably be ok. Vasili couldn't get the basics right, that's why his maps failed.

When you've made a few maps of your own and you've got to grips with the tools you'll learn the more complex parts of the trade and in time you'll be a great mapper.

Just make sure you listen to criticism and advice and act on it.
