Attack Force Alpha

First map! Its pretty much done (still got some stuff to fix/remove/add) and needs testing! I got too moved on and needs some difficulty tweaking. All scripts so far seems to be working as intended. A bit too prop heavy on the starting area but still playable.



-Trainstation, initial attack failed but you are saved by the second attack wave. You must cut the power, hijack combine communications system, secure the trainstation and withstand a counter attack.

Interior shot with power on. The train car there is a complete waste of my time and a resource hog. It was a simple detail prefab, I took it made the windows and some of the bars breakable and put light sources in it. But it is staying, no matter what.

Combine make an entry with a bang. Before.

After. I thought I about breaking more things but settled with a lighter howitzer barrage.


-Tunnels, after station is secure you have to link up with another attack force that was diverted to setup a camp. You have to secure the tunnels connecting the station to the underpass.

A "Carry thing to a specfic zone" puzzle. In this case something you shouldn't install with bare hands.

Of course tunnels are filled with zombies. Makes no sense but they are filled with zombies.


-Underpass, The camp is surrounded and under siege by Combine forces. They took over abandoned check posts and forced Attack Force Gamma to their newly setup camp. Your objective is to deliver an armoured AA buggy to the surface.

Underpass is initially dark. Untill snipers decide to shine their spotlights in your face.

A friggin' gaint mistake. At first it was supposed to have the lift and the rest would be abyss. Then I decided to put this combine pipeline. Then this then that, then moved the elevator away... etc. I won't be there. It's stupid, it's bland... etc.

..and that's it...

Gameplay;
Counter Strike weapons for everyone! Combine use Ak47 largely, Elites still pack the AR2. You find weapons and ammo in caches and press use to pick them up. There are several of those scattered around the level. The last check point packs a lot of guns. A couple of changes to guns exist though; how much ammo can be carried is modified and M249 uses rifle ammo and Mac10 uses pistol ammo.

Suppress and move! You will face loads of Soliders and they will keep coming untill you reach a certain point or complete a task. But you will never be a able bum rush your way. There are no lives you can die as much as you want and only "not-so-vital" items are sold by merchants (ie. manhacks, batons).

Suggestions wellcome, map will be up for download in a few days... if not a week.

Oh finally a wip thread that looks like its actually going to get finished!

Hope it turns out great, we need more good maps badly.

And to make sure, you said you modified some of the css weapons, i hope you made a new script for them instead of editing the original files, because it would be bad if your changes would affect all other maps too.

It is actually finished in brush/script work, there are a couple of light quirks, some areas to be detailed and a few final decisions.

Edit; And yes, there are only three weapons edited and they will use clear tags, (custom_m249_ar2, custom_mac10_pstl, custom_sg552_single_zoom)

I like the mannable M60, mostly due to my love of custom models/stuff in maps lol

looks great so far, keep up the good work I'd like to see this map being finished!

Combine soldiers will do more damage than elites :? .Also look like a good map.
Please don't take my posts before 2013 too seriously. It will be better for both you and I :c

- an actual storyline
- balanced weapons
- detailed environment
- built cubemaps
- good use of OC features
- and make sense
...

Heh, thanks. I've been thinking of some more background...

"Attack Forces" are the the organized forces of the human resistance, unlike the rest of the milita and rebels that follow the resistance movement. Not large enough to be call an army but still... Those guys have no intention to settle down once the war is over. Since their motto is "Bring the war to them" and Eli Vances was "Hide under a rock and don't frak with teleportation technology" they are not really sad for his death. There five different divisions and each are experts in their field.

Alpha: The Commandos, jack of all trades, also the players Force. Since they have the uncanny ability to carry and use multiple weapons and incredible skill to use medpacks and chargers they get to be shot at first.

Beta: The back up crowd. Whenever Alphas frak up they are tasked to rescue them. So they naturally specialise in stealth and rescue.

Gamma: The engineers. While can't withstand prolonged combat they can keep it cool enough to hack Combine terminals and repair stuff. The gravgun crowd.

Kilo: There are a couple of planes and ships humans still can operate. And lots of helicopters they can hijack. They are the pilots for those. Or as the rest of the Attack Forces call them lazy slobs. Though it doesn't mean they won't be useful one day.

Zulu: The most obnoxious looters in the human history. Their motto is "Anything that is not bolted down." and "If you come across something bolted down look for a torch."

And this is their first open battle with combine to secure a trainstation at the far end of the City 17 during Gordon's adventures in Citadel.

Hey wait, doesn't Eli die AFTER Gordon blew up the Citadel? Like.. in the end of EP2, whereas the Citadel has been blewn in the end of HL².

Yes. That's how feel about the eveyones favourite hobo scientists death now. But before even the citadel blew up, they had a trainstation to fight over. :P

I think default CS:S M249 would work just fine. Anyway there it is. There is a light problem at the very end of the map. And I probably won't be around till next weekend so don't rage :P
