Make sure players wont get stuck on objects or in unescapable rooms.
Dont make npcs spawn out of just 1 place at a time.
Add puzzles in your map, not just npc killing.
Realism matters, even if it is a scifi like game.
Have more than just 1 npc you fight at a time.
Have npcs spawn on triggers, dont just place them there. (They lag!)
Add sound to doors, fighting sequences, and anything you can without making it annoying.
Houses have stairs not ramps.
Dont place props where you know people will be walking alot.
Try to include mod guns like the uzi and guass.
Make sure your lighting is accurate.
Test your maps for bugs and glitches before releasing it. Test the smallest things.
Be sure to get a second opinion on the textures you use.
Dont use expensive entities in a big map.
