I have 1 monitor, 2 camera2 and 2 buttons to switch which one is displayed.
1 cam shows everything fine but the other doesn't show npcs.
Any clue why?

You mean 1 working camera? Because both work but one doesnt show npcs.

when the button is activated , the first monitor/camera should be deactivated everywhere in the map and then the second should work properly.

Obsidian does support multiple cameras. The Render texture needs a proper name tho.

Actually, it may not anymore. Valve almost completely rewrote how the cameras render, and I couldn't relate a lot of the old code from that tutorial to the new system.
