Bloated? Don't blame Microsoft just yet.

Overview
__

After doing my final reading on Vista before I get it, I find out that MS went to 7 country's and asked 50 families on how they wanted Vista. Now I agree when it comes to downloading through Microsoft.com but when people don't have Internet access they might need these programs. People like photographers, or the nice lady at church who prints off the bulletin for activities that day.
__
Security
__

Security was the major focus of Vista. Parental Controls are the main security feature, showing where you're kid went on the Internet, IM Sessions, and what games they've played. I personally do not need this because I don't have children.
__
Features
__

Now as most MS haters will say it has way to much software bundled with it. I agree but read the first paragraph. Most of the thing we call bloat, are suggestions from the 5,000,000 people who've beta tested Vista. Features such as DVD Maker (burns/rips DVD), Movie Maker (Makes the Movie you can burn) and other little things like that we're all suggestions to put in Vista by default by the Beta testers.

Shell
__

The shell is also a major improvement over the last few years for MS. I'm not talking about AERO, I'm simply talking about the shell it self. Things such as Index Searching, Live Thumbnails on the taskbar, Realtime previews of documents, music and video, and Live Thumbnails in the Task switcher. (Alt-Tab). One of my favorite shell features is the new Start Menu. I'm tired of the cascading rows of programs or that long list if I haven't cleaned it out in a while. Now it dynamically opens in the Start menu itself, which I find better. The search at the bottom of the Start menu replaces Run by default. The Run option is easily accessible through the Start Menu properties just like always. The reason it replaces Run is because you can type in commands like you would in Run but you can also search through your whole computer for programs that contain or start with what you have searched. Another shell improvement is the Options Menu now used by CTRL-ALT-DEL. When you hit those keys it will force overlay the options menu with a few useful features, such as Start Task manager, Logoff, Switch users, and shutdown. The reason it force overlays the screen like it does is because there have been many complaints about full screen applications getting hung but the computer is still responsive. I find this useful when playing graphically intense games such as GTA:SA with all HD building, cars and characters. A neat thing most normal users wont find useful but advanced user will, is the Services tab in the Task manager. I find this more convenient than going to the run dialog and typing services.msc.

I haven't used vista, but I'm fairly happy with xp.
I will spit right in your fraking face.

Isn't vista rather buggy at the moment?
Or have they fixed that?

Waiting for SP1 before getting Vista is the best choice if you want it less buggy.
