Well i was making my map and all looked okay .. tho maybe a little dark.. so i decided to place env_cubemaps to see if i could fix the problem... Heres what i get:
This is looking horrible.... anyone know how to fix or have a tutorial that explains cubemapping on LARGE OPEN areas?
Some of those textures just don't turn out well with HDR cubemaps. It might be the textures vmt with a lack of HDR information to tone down those overbright pixels.
So, you do have cubemaps in the map, you have properly set up light_environment, you don't have HDR, you've built the cubemaps, you've restarted the map and it still doesn't work? Leaks? Do you have any leaks?
But well i tried changing up the texture and it looked fairly better. Then i tried finding better skybox/light settings... played around for 5 hrs... And here i proudly show you the result:
